AVID’s mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society.

AVID is an elective class offered to 6th-8th graders and includes schoolwide systems to help all Broncos succeed.

 Students must apply to be in the elective class each year. 

The AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Elective is a college and career readiness course designed to help students develop the skills necessary for academic success. This elective focuses on building strong study habits, critical thinking, time management, and organizational skills.

Students in the AVID program engage in:
✅ Collaborative learning through peer tutoring and group activities
✅ College and career exploration with guest speakers, field trips, and research projects
✅ Writing, inquiry, and reading strategies to strengthen comprehension and communication skills
✅ Note-taking and organization techniques 
✅ Leadership and teamwork development to build confidence and motivation

✅ Daily Assignments & Deadlines: Students log homework, test dates, and projects to stay on top of their work.
✅ Time Management: Helps students balance academics, extracurriculars, and personal responsibilities.
✅ Goal Setting & Reflection: Students write down academic goals and reflect on their progress throughout the year.
