AVID in Action: Real-World Learning at Finance Park

Barbara Bush Middle School AVID students stepped beyond the classroom and into real-world decision-making during their visit to Junior Achievement of Dallas’ Finance Park.

AVID—Advancement Via Individual Determination—is a college and career readiness program that equips students with the academic skills, mindset, and experiences needed for future success. This Finance Park experience directly supported AVID’s mission by allowing students to apply critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in a hands-on, authentic setting.

Through interactive simulations, students explored the complexities of the stock market, practiced workplace readiness skills, and made financial decisions tied to budgeting, careers, and long-term planning. These real-life scenarios helped students build a strong foundation in financial literacy while gaining a deeper understanding of how today’s choices impact tomorrow’s opportunities.

We are grateful to Junior Achievement of Dallas for providing this impactful learning experience and empowering our students with skills that will serve them well beyond middle school!
