Learning together and growing our libraries

Learning together and growing our libraries

Our school librarian, Ms. Beesley, recently had the opportunity to attend Region 10's librarian conference, "Beyond the Cape: The Power of School Libraries", this past week alongside fellow CFB librarians, as well as school librarians and professionals from other districts across the region. The day was filled with learning, collaboration, and conversations about the important role school libraries play in the lives of students.

Throughout the conference, educators shared ideas and strategies focused on literacy, library management, thoughtful technology integration, and creating welcoming spaces where every student feels a sense of belonging. Some of the most valuable moments came through conversations with fellow librarians and the opportunity to share experiences, exchange ideas, and discover new ways to support and inspire young readers.

Our librarian returned excited to bring new ideas back to our school and continue working to make our library the heart of our school community and the place where students feel safe, welcomed, encouraged, and excited to learn. From helping students find the right book to creating opportunities for exploration and discovery, the library is a place for every student to feel at home.

We are excited to see the new ideas and inspiration from the conference come to life in our library and look forward to continuing to build a space where every student can find a book, a place, and a reason to belong.
